In honor of Earth Day, spring, and warm temps in the Capitol City, I thought I’d share some exciting information about how Cheyenne is blooming, growing and gaining greenery.

When we first moved to Cheyenne, I remember hearing about the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and the Paul Smith Children’s Village from family and friends. I hate to admit it, but a small part of me thought, “Well, how great could “botanic gardens” really be in Cheyenne, Wyoming?” When I actually stepped foot inside the gardens and the Paul Smith Children’s Village, I realized I could not have been more wrong. I was blown away by the beauty of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens and amazed at this incredible community achievement. Since then, it has become a place our family frequents at least weekly. It’s a place we picnic, a place I meet clients for shoots, and a favorite play environment and learning destination for my children. We can be found there year-round playing, walking, and watching the landscape change throughout each season.

Cheyenne, things are only getting better. The Cheyenne Botanic Gardens is continuing to bloom with a world-class facility in the heart of our city, The Grand Conservatory. This will be an indoor space that will actually add to Cheyenne’s green space. Our community is going to have a year-round facility that boasts tropical trees, flowers and plants, complete with an orangerie. That’s right — Cheyenne, Wyoming is going to have an orangerie. Not only will the Conservatory be an amazing green respite even in winter months, but it will be a beautiful year-round community hub. The Grand Conservatory is also going to provide a state of the art and much-needed wedding and event space.  After hearing dozens of brides recount their struggles finding and securing a wedding venue here in Cheyenne, I could not be more excited about this.

If you haven’t stopped by the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens lately, go see the progress they’ve made on the beautiful new Grand Conservatory. There is so much happening right now, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Check out the Expansion Renovation Details here for more information and go see photos of the building so far on the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Facebook page.

And here’s how you can help keep things moving on this amazing community asset. The Friends of the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Foundation has kicked off a Grow our Gardens campaign to give families, individuals and businesses an opportunity to invest in Cheyenne’s future and leave a legacy in honor of a loved one.  One incredibly heartfelt celebration of community and family is the legacy you can leave by giving toward the Bride’s Dressing Room. With a gift of $500 or more in celebration of Mother’s Day, the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens will display a wedding image of your choice in the Bride’s Dressing Room. This is a legacy your family can enjoy for years to come and a testament to the commitment this community has to bettering Cheyenne for future generations.

I’m so honored that the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens asked to use my images in their recent mailer, and I’m even more excited for this new wedding venue to come to fruition. The Grand Conservatory will be an amazing event space for weddings. Please consider giving to this amazing community asset. Let’s keep Cheyenne blooming by growing our Gardens.

If you didn’t receive the Mother’s Day flyer in the mail, you can access the mailer and the donation card here:
