When Mackenzie’s mom told me she wanted to “dirty the dress” with one of her prom dresses for her senior session, my mind went blank for a little while as to locations. At the time, the river in Green River was so high the green belt was a distant memory, and the lake…well, I just couldn’t really picture it there. So we hit the road for Salt Lake City, where I knew we’d have plenty of places to choose from.

One thing I loved about living in Salt Lake? Rarely is there any wind. Unlike windy Wyoming, Salt Lake only sees blustery times when a storm is blowing in. But when I pulled into town the day of the shoot, it was pretty blustery and starting to rain. I tried to assure Mackenzie’s mom that Salt Lake’s storms usually clear up much more quickly than do the violent summer storms in Wyoming. Luckily, Salt Lake didn’t let me down. Although it was raining for the first part of the shoot, we had a beautiful, still (and hot!) evening, complete with an incredible sunset for our last few shots.

Mackenzie, I know you will go far! Congratulations and thanks for being such a good sport for these! I had a blast!
