Looking to do some or all of your senior pictures in downtown Cheyenne? I wanted to show you one of my favorite downtown sessions. Here are a few tips for planning an in-town senior session with a sports-related location. Caden is a big golfer, so we had to do a few of his senior pictures on the golf course.

Think About Dressing Up

I love the contrast of dressy clothes with downtown vibes. Bold colors and funky shoes are perfect for downtown sessions, but so are dressy clothes that contrast the gritty alleys and downtown scenes. Think about wearing something a little dressy to contrast the gritty downtown scenes. Caden's sport jacket was perfect for both downtown and on the golf course. Girls might opt for a dress and heels for alley shots in downtown as well. I wouldn't do all dressy clothes, but one dressy outfit downtown is fun and adds conceptual variety to your photos.

Bring Sunglasses or a Hat

Bring some subtle accessories that we can use for a few of your photos. Sunglasses or one of your favorite hats work perfectly to add a little attitude to your senior pictures. And sometimes, we need the sunglasses for practical reasons - I like harsh light in downtown scenes and I often have you looking toward the sunlight.

Don't Forget Your Letter Jacket

Downtown scenes are a perfect setting for letter jacket shots. If you have pets, please lint roll your jacket before your session. The black wool on letter jackets show everything!

Sports Locations

For full in-town sessions, I'm happy to incorporate a court, field, pool or golf course into your session. However, I need you to coordinate with your coaches for access to these spaces. Typically, we would do indoor spaces before a downtown or outdoor location, so plan on a late afternoon timeframe for basketball courts etc. For football fields, outdoor courses, soccer fields, tennis courts, etc, it would be best to do them last after a downtown session. The light can be really intense on big open fields without trees. If you opt for an in-town location and a mountain location for senior pictures, we will still start in town and move to the mountains last. Swimming photos are the one special circumstance when I would do a morning session and an afternoon session, so your hair is not soaking for the rest of your photos.

Scheduling Your Senior Pictures in Cheyenne

Please don't wait to get on the schedule. Senior spots go quickly, and once they are gone, I won't be adding more this year. Please do not wait until July to get on the schedule, as I worry I won't have many sessions left. You also don't want to be scrambling to get everything scheduled after your busy senior year begins! To get on the calendar, go to this page, choose a session, and book a date. Once your deposit and contract are completed, your date is secured. Most sessions occur in the early evening hours, in the few hours before sunset, but I do have some shorter sessions that occur closer to midday. Downtown sessions allow for a little more flexibility in light because the buildings provide shade. As always, please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions!
