Bailey and Pat's Jackson Hole wedding was Liz and my last big wedding of the season. This past year seemed to be one of synergy. It felt like a season of photographing the right couples who matched our style even better than we anticipated. Read on to find out why Bailey and Pat's day was a perfect example of that.

We are storytellers.

More than anything, we want to capture what is really important about your day, and what will still be important to you at your 10th, 20th or 50th year anniversary. Therefore, we feel the best way to do that is to tell intelligent stories about your day in full complexity, humor and truth. Our couples tend to be laid back, bucking tradition and embracing who they are, together and apart, in such a way that their wedding can't help but be unique. They care less about the glitter and elegance of a magazine-ready wedding and more about the whimsy and connection that reside in authenticity. Their friends and family are the details of their wedding day with which they are most concerned. Within a few minutes of our arriving to Bailey and Pat's big day, it was clear they were our kind of couple.

Jackson Hole and Wyoming Landscapes.

Most of our couples seem to share our fierce connection with nature, particularly with the wilderness of Wyoming. Teton County gets a bad rap in the rest of the state, but I have a confession to make. Teton County is the only place I am able to hit the "reset" button. My heart lies on the back porch of a little cabin outside Moran where I sit and drink coffee and listen to mountain bluebirds sing morning songs. That is why the right weddings for me are those where I can look back through the images and still smell the pine and hear the wind in the trees. I am grateful to be a part of these moments for my clients, all the while spending time in beautiful places.

Quick side note; we had three Jackson Hole weddings this year, and this is the second to hit the blog. If you missed the first one, you can see it here.

When we hear "Jackson Hole wedding," we might not necessarily think of a wedding between two people who were raised in Wyoming. Bailey and Pat grew up in Teton County. They hunt, fish, and attempt to protect their hometown from the exploitation and commercialization that seem inevitable for beautiful places. They are more 'Wyoming' than many people I've encountered in the rest of this state. Their first date was elk hunting together. Their first look was at a favorite fishing hole of theirs, complete with a couple PBR's and a lucky appearance by a drake mayfly. Bailey wore a fur from a coyote she shot herself. You'll see that the coyote took on a life all its own throughout the day.

Emotion.

Perfect weddings for us are rich in emotion and multi-faceted. This one was full of happy tears and hilarious side stories. Every part of it mirrored the beauty of Pat and Bailey's relationship.

Justice Marilyn Kite, the first woman to be named Chief Justice in Wyoming, officiated. In line with the rest of the day, the ceremony was heartfelt, genuine and beautifully poetic. Later, the reception was full of amazing stories, laughter and happy tears. The Wyoming band, Boondocks, provided awesome music.

Ok, I'll stop gushing. Let's just say we ended this day, and this wedding season, with our hearts very full after this Jackson Hole wedding. Bailey and Pat, thank you a million times over for allowing us to document your day. I can't tell you how much it meant to us both. Congratulations!
