Little America is a perfect venue for a winter wedding here in Cheyenne. I remember thinking that Blake and Matt were brave to plan a February wedding in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Little did I know that their planning in 2020 could not have been more perfect. A little over a month later, schools were closed and events were being fully cancelled or postponed. Now, about a year later, I'm looking back on our only non-pandemic wedding of 2020. This was also the first Greek wedding these Cheyenne photographers had ever captured.

Blake's family has a long history in the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church downtown. It was so neat to learn about all of the different ceremony customs that make up a Greek orthodox wedding. Blake and Matt both grew up in Cheyenne, so people who had known the couple their whole lives filled that little church. Coats were hung up to make more room in the pews for guests, and the church was packed all the way to the edges. A year later, I'm struck by Blake and Matt's sheer luck in planning their date. I wonder how different things would have been had they set their date only a month later.

The ceremony was gorgeous, filled with rich symbolism and meaning. I especially loved how the couple processes three times in a circle together around the altar to symbolize their journey in life. Similarly, the bride and groom receive crowns that get swapped between the bride and groom three times.

After the ceremony, we took a quick trolley ride to the Metropolitan Downtown for some drinks, and then made our way to Little America for the reception. The reception was also full of Geek traditions, like dancing around the room holding hands. I am so glad Blake and Matt were able to have their big day before COVID-19 hit in full force. It would have made for a much different day for this sweet couple.
