Gorgeous outdoor Wyoming ranch wedding on the Wyoming - Colorado border.

Venue: Private Ranch, Wyoming and Colorado

DJ: Rock on Wheels Productions

Flowers: Bliss Wedding Florist, Fort Collins

In the middle of an insane wedding season, it can be hard to take a moment to pause and reflect back on the magic we've witnessed. This year has been especially crazy, with people making up for lost time in 2020. Hence, the blog being neglected this summer and fall.

But this Wyoming ranch wedding just really needs shared. One thing we've realized over the years about how we work best is that we thrive on the days that are full of personal details. Dani and James' wedding took place on a ranch on the Colorado - Wyoming border that has been in Dani's family for generations. They planned the ceremony site with mountain views in mind and then opted to have the reception a few miles away in a protected valley area. We took family photos in an area especially important to Dani's family, near a memorial for her late grandfather (PS - the family has a secret liquor stash near that area, so of course, everyone needed a shot before heading to the ceremony).

Ideas You Need to Steal for Your Outdoor Wyoming Ranch Wedding

Photo Booth Vignettes

Dani and James had several different photo vignettes set up around the outside of the tent, all with a western theme. There was a bull to ride, which made for some chaotic hilarity, and several antique chairs. They also brought some gun props and frames to use.

I LOVE this idea of photo vignettes for several reasons. Standard photo booths are fine, but this was SO much better, especially for a ranch wedding in Wyoming. First of all, standard photo backdrops set up against a wall are getting stale. Secondly, they are typically narrow and only allow for a few people to use them at a time. These little vignettes, set up and spread out in a big field, allowed for several different groups to simultaneously grab photos. The light was magical at that time of night, so we happily photographed several of these groups. You could also add Instax cameras if you really wanted prints available. What I've found though? Most people want these photos on their own phones to share on social media.

Hire a Sound Master/DJ

I know it can be tempting to opt for do-it-yourself options for an outdoor Wyoming ranch wedding. One thing you should not skimp on, especially if you are hosting your wedding in a remote location without power and wifi, is a DJ. George with Rock on Wheels is a master at making sure he has enough generator power to make things happen for your outdoor ranch wedding. Sound can go very badly, and we've watched many days where microphones have static or cut out during ceremonies, or where receptions go silent for long periods of time. Without wifi, ranch weddings in Wyoming can be tricky; hire someone to help you plan your songs ahead of time and have them downloaded. Hiring a DJ also ensures you don't have to worry about your guests not hearing your vows.
